We are forever indebted to Al and Sondra Ellis of Highline Trail Llamas in WY for allowing us to bring so many of their amazing llamas home with us to CA. Our breeding program has grown in leaps and bounds due to their generosity (and years of genetic selection) and we will do our best to continue on these great lines for future generations of llama packers to enjoy.

Llamas have lightened our loads and helped us

explore the backcountry since the early 1990's

when my husband and I purchased our first two

packers. Their calm but curious nature, soft

padded feet, and ease of care make llamas ideal

packing companions and allow one to bring

luxuries never considered on a backpacking trip

or to carry out large game after a successful

hunting trip.

We started breeding Ccara (or classic) llamas

when we were no longer able to locate suitable

replacement candidates for our pack string. We've

always been strictly focused on short wooled athletic

llamas but over the years these amazing animals have

become increasingly rare and difficult to find for sale.

In 2008 I became part of the newly formed North American Ccara Association, which is the registry for the working llama and is dedicated to seeking out, preserving, and promoting the rapidly disappearing Ccara llama breed developed by the Incas and honed by generations of work carrying loads across the Andes. I am honored to be associated with this organization and extremely grateful for the core group who worked so hard to make it a reality. To learn more go to www.ccarallama.com .

Our herd hovers around 45 and our goal is to produce llamas with athletic conformation, intelligence, and a willingness to work.  We pack what we breed- many of our females are accomplished packers and our breeding males have all proven themselves on the trail.

Robin and I enjoy mentoring new llama owners and teach pack clinics with (or without) your own llama. We try to have a few experienced or up and coming pack llamas available for sale as well as breeding stock and offer limited outside breeding to approved Ccara females. Feel free to contact us for more information or help finding the right animal to fit your needs.
